Biographical papers, 1864-1914.

Biographical papers from the military career of U.S. Army Brigadier General Philip Reade. Included are certificates, printed orders, an 1898 commission signed by William McKinley, an 1864 note by General Benjamin Butler identifying Reade as gathering information for the Secret Service, a chart showing maternal ancestors in the military, and a diary, July 7-October 8, 1904, kept by Reade while serving as post commander at Malabang, Mindanao, Philippine Islands, accompanied by a map showing operations of the 23rd Infantry in the Lake Lanao Region and Rio Grande Valley, Philippine Islands.
